Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy is the world’s biggest climate and energy initiative that brings together thousands of local and regional authorities voluntary committed to step up their ambitions of sustainable energy on their territories. Within this EU initiative, local and regional authorities pledge to reduce greenhouse emissions across their territory by at least 30% by 2030.

The initiative is directly targeting at sustainable energy development at the local level and taking action on climate change mitigation and adaptation. More than 7 thousand cities in different countries signed up to the Covenant of Mayors.

 

Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy in Belarus

Currently, about 50 Belarusian cities have joined the Covenant of Mayors movement and geography of participants is regularly expanding.

October 26, 2016 IPO "Ecopartnership" officially became the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy supporter. The organization provides consultations to existing and potential Covenant signatories in Belarus and promotes the initiative at local and national levels.
